Are you ready for Sex and the City??

I know I'm not the only one who is completely excited about the Sex and the City movie that starts tomorrow. It also happens to be my mom's birthday so we are going to make Cosmos and smuggle them into the theater to watch the movie. We can't wait! Does anyone else have any special plans??

My Latest Mac Haul

On Memorial Day, my mother and I stopped by the Mac section in our Nordstrom’s Department store here in Houston. I checked out the new Neo Sci-Fi and Solar Field lines and picked up a couple of things from the last few lines Mac has come out with. The first thing I noticed was the fabulously bright nail polish in the Neo Sci-fi line. Beautiful! My nails badly need some attention and I’ve been dying to try a new bright color for the summer. So, I picked up the nail lacquer color, Plasma Blu. It’s best described as a frosty, blue, turquoise-esk color. I’m getting my nails done and I will post the color soon. I can’t wait! The Neo Sci-fi line is not all as bold as this nail color and I was actually surprised that most of the colors are actually muted considering the extremely bright neon orange packaging. My favorite of the eyeshadows (my favorite splurge of all of Mac’s products) is actually Expensive Pink which is already in my daily collection. My next stop was the new Solar Field display. What the Solar Field line consists of are these pigment-like pots filled with something called Solar Bits. The Mac website describes it as: Highly condensed clusters of pigment and pearl uniquely formulated to give a special hit of frost and colour on eyes and cheeks. Basically, it looks like creamy clumps or bits of pigment that you spread across to make a nice smooth finish. I picked up Bronzescape, which was a really intense bronze/gold color that I can even imagine mixing with some of my color shadows. I will post swatches to try to show you the intensity of this mixture. I just love new products! I’ve never seen anything like this before. The next thing I picked up was the pigment, Mutiny from the new Naughty Nautical line and another pigment from the Heatherette line that I’ve been dying to try, Pink Pearl. When I was checking out, the salesperson told us that there is a special edition brush set event coming up and she will call me before to set up an appointment. I will keep you posted!

My New Favorite Accessory

On my last trip to the mall, I picked up what is now my new favorite accessory. I found these really cute chunky bangle bracelets:

The black one says, Be Positive. Believe in yourself and the cream one says, L’amour toujours l’amour which according to iGoogle translate means, Love always love. Love it!

Doctor Burt's (Burt's Bees) Herbal Blemish Stick aka Miracle Worker!

Ok, as I said earlier, my skin isn’t perfect. I’m now at an age where I thought my hormones would stop reeking havoc on my face but Noooooo!!! So, unfortunately I have the occasional red, beneath the skin, make you want to slap your mama because it hurts so bad, swollen bump. Since I actually started following a real skin care regimen, these bumps have been less often. Never the less, I still get them from time to time. I actually came across this wonderful- should I say miracle?- product when I was having a bad back break out. I was at my local Ulta cosmetics store on my lunch hour and I came across this Doctor Burt's Herbal Blemish Stick (from Burt's Bees line). I noticed it had tea tree oil in it and I’ve always heard that was good for the healing process. It also has something called Willow Bark that apparently works similarly to Salicylic Acid. I applied this to my skin the minute I got in the car. I have to say that I started noticing the redness and the soreness of the bump go away almost instantly. It was incredible! I know that doesn’t sound very exciting but when you are as frustrated as I was, you might have been shouting from the rooftops! lol The stick itself resembles one of those little roll on lip glosses I had as a pre-teen. However, the smell isn’t the greatest. It smells like really strong licorice but it dissipates so don’t think you will walk around smelling like that. All you do is apply the roll on to the actual bump. It goes on slightly wet but dries almost instantly. I carry this around in my purse and if I have a bump, I apply it throughout the day. It doesn’t dry my skin or have any sort of color to it. So, if you are like me and get these dreadful bumps/pimples that just won’t go away, try this. I promise, you won’t be sorry.

Origins- Silk Screen Refining Powder Makeup Review- My Face Buttah

I just love this stuff! It makes my face feel like buttah!! lol This is my daily powder/foundation. It can be worn over liquid foundation or alone. In the winter I did wear it over my foundation but in the hotter, more humid spring/summer months I’m wearing it alone (after my skin care regimen, of course). For me, it has just the right amount of coverage without giving me the cakey look or feel. Previously, I was wearing Studio Fix by Mac (which I still like and is always my back up plan) but I feel that this gives me just as much coverage without caking up or feeling too thick. I’m pretty fair skinned so I wear the color, Tender and it seems to match perfectly. This is definitely one to try for us women who also tend to break out or get clogged pores. My skin is okay but has a tendency to have the occasional break out. My break outs have significantly decreased since using this powder and I don’t think it is a coincidence!
